Aldershot (UK) 10 February 2006. Carlin Motorsport are pleased to confirm the signing of Direxiv backed young German racer Maro Engel. Engel is the latest confirmed driver in the Carlin F3 line-up for the 2006 season and he will start testing with the team when the ban is lifted on February 15/16 at the Welsh circuit, Pembrey.
Engel said from his base in the south of France – “ I’m really pleased that Direxiv has given me the opportunity to race with the championship winning team Carlin Motorsport. Carlin has a great history in the F3 category, and I’m looking forward to starting to work with them and my team mates to ensure Carlin and Honda remain at the top. I have great trust in Trevor Carlin and his team, that together we will do everything to ensure another competitive season.
As he looked forward to his first full F3 season, Maro continued by saying - “British F3 is one of the toughest championships, I am hoping for a good season and for certain I am aiming to score points, podiums and hopefully some wins as my experience grows and the season unfolds.”
Carlin Team Director Trevor Carlin comments “ The Carlin team are equally pleased to have signed Maro. He takes his career seriously and he has bonded quickly with the team which is very important. When testing with us before Christmas, Maro did a superb job and we look forward to seeing him in the car again soon and helping him to develop as a driver.”
