After 22 races over six months the 2007 season is over!  We finished in the best possible fashion - taking the final win of the season.

We were in good shape ahead of the weekend, having topped the time sheets in the official practice at the track two weeks previously.  The weekend continued to go well, as I was able to set the second quickest time in Friday practice.

Qualifying for race one turned out to be a bit of a lottery, the drying track conditions meant that the best times would be set at the very end of the session.  I was looking good on my last flying lap in the dying seconds of qualifying when I hit slow traffic which badly affected my time, meaning the best we could manage was ninth on the grid.  Conditions improved for second qualifying, and I knew that the fastest car would take pole position outright.  The car felt fantastic and I was able to take pole by a comfortable margin.

I didn't have the best start in race one and was passed by a couple of cars.  The car didn't feel quite right and I was struggling quite a bit.  I made up one place when my team mate Sam Bird retired with a broken drive shaft on lap six.  Position remained unchanged for the rest of the race, so I crossed the line tenth - hoping that race two would bring larger rewards.

I felt I had the pace to win race two and was surprised that Gonzalez had such a good start.  I didn't realise at first that he had jumped the start, although I suspected as much.  I didn't want to rely on him having a drive through penalty though and was pushing as hard as possible to catch him.  He finally took a drive through penalty on lap six, hading me the lead.  From that point on I was able to pull out a good lead on my team mate Sam, and was delighted to take my third win of the season.

It was the perfect race.  I think I dominated the race and really showed we had the pace to win, and it was really important to me to end the season like this.  Obviously I'm disappointed not to have won the championship, but I think we've had a very strong season.

I like to thank the team for all their hard work this season.  The car was fantastic today, Matt, my engineer did a great job, as did my two mechanics and the whole team throughout the year.  They deserve this win as much as I do.  It's great that we were able to finish the season as we started it - with a victory!
