110918.jpgSurely I have not experienced a DTM race like this so far in my career, there was everything and more in this race, even unwanted events. Lets start at the beginning, with good work from my Mücke team we set the car up for qualifying throughout the free practice sessions.

In Qualifying our aim was to be in the top 10, we managed this and qualified in 9th position. This gave us a good chance to score points on Sunday. As so often this year just in time for the race it started to rain.

I had a good start and an even better first two corners, I was already in 5th position when exiting turn 3, I has hit from behind by Jamie Green sending m into a spin. However Jamie was not to blame for this as he too was hit quite hardly by Oliver Jarvis, sending him straight into me. I must admit I was really angry at this point. From now on it was all attack and see what we can get out of it. With good pace and a very good strategy as well as pitstops we managed to move up the order. After some other competitors hit trouble we still managed to finish in the point scoring positions and finally crossed the line in 7th place.

I was very happy with these 2 points, especially after the way the race had started for us, however I was also a little upset about the spin, as everyone can imagine what would have been possible without it. However that’s racing and now we look forward to the second last race of the DTM season at Valencia.
