In free practice the performance of my GQ AMG Mercedes C-Class was good. Speed and set up worked, so I was always one of the fastest on the track, we ended the session in 3rd and 5th place. Therefore my team Mücke Motorsport and I were very confident for the qualifying. Why we didn’t manage to translate our good speed into a strong qualifying was a little bit of a mystery for us. P14 was of course not what we expected. Especially as on Sunday morning in warm-up everything was back to normal with P 3. The start of the race was promising. At the very first lap I managed to pass three opponents. After the safety car period, I then started to pressure my ex-teammate Ralf Schumacher. But then the race was quickly over. In Turn 3 Oliver Jarvis crashed into my rear. The consequences were bad: Parts of the destroyed end plate got sucked into the wheel arch and then stuck there. The unscheduled pit stop was inevitable and a strong race result was impossible. Even if I repeat myself: We will forget the Euro Speedway quickly, draw our conclusions, and we are very much looking forward to the Norisring! Sooner or later things will go our way again!
Keep racing
