Hattrick for charity

maro.jpg Maybe I should have pursued a football career? No, no. Don't worry. I'll stay in motorsport. At the Nürburgring you'll see me in my DTM car again.

But the charity match on Wednesday in Wiesbaden in the team of the Nazionale Piloti with Michael Schumacher and the other Formula 1 drivers Vitaly Petrov and Jaime Alguersuari against a celebrity team with ex-ski jumper Sven Hannawald, boxer Arthur Abraham and the womans football world champion Renate Lingor was really good fun.

And the best thing is: with 5650 spectators the event was a success and we achieved 35.000 EUR for UNICEF and the Children's Aid KIO. That I was able to contribute three goals to our 5:2 success, makes this game even nicer for me! It's always fun to be on the pitch with colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere, and the whole thing for a charitable cause makes it a great event.

I'm now looking forward to the next match with the Nazionale Piloti and to my work for Mercedes at the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Germany this weekend. I will be working there all weekend with taxi rides, autograph sessions and interviews around the Mercedes Benz grandstand.

Keep Racing!
Your Maro Engel
